High School Ensembles

Marching Band
Marching band is an extra-curricular activity that fosters teamwork, lifelong friendships and unforgettable memories. The marching band season kicks off in early August for students in grades 8-12. All practices occur outside of the school day: 4 days a week after school and weekends in the fall.

Highlights of our marching band program is the chance to perform at home football games, invitational events and compete at prestigious competitions, such as Bands of America. We welcome all students who wish to participate in marching band. No prior experience is required—just bring your enthusiasm, dedication, and a desire to be part of something truly special.

Concert Band
Our fall and spring concert bands at Marvin Ridge High School offer a rewarding musical experience for around 150 dedicated students each year. In our concert band program, students develop essential musical skills such as technical proficiency, intonation, music reading, and listening skills through literature that exposes them to a wide range of musical styles.

As a fully-weighted, semester-long honors class during the school day, our concert band offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in music while earning academic credit. We also offer a year-long concert band option that can be paired with a full-year AP class, providing a well-rounded educational experience.

Throughout the year, our concert bands have the opportunity to showcase their hard work and dedication through a limited number of concerts, small group ensembles and the spring MPA contest. These performances serve as a culmination of daily rehearsals, allowing students to share their musical achievements with the community.

Jazz Band
The Marvin Ridge High School jazz band program offers an exciting and enriching extra-curricular activity for students who are interested in exploring the diverse styles of instrumental jazz. The program runs from late November to May, with weekly practices. We welcome musicians of all skill levels on any instrument. Jazz band performances are held in conjunction with concert band performances throughout the year.
